KEEP KIDS ALIVE DRIVE 25® IS A NATIONAL TRAFFIC SAFETY CAMPAIGN SPONSORED BY THE WESTMINSTER POLICE DEPARTMENT.
The goal of the program is simply to remind drivers to check their speed and slow down as needed. Keep Kids Alive Drive 25® is designed to work with the police department and neighborhood associations to slow down drivers in their communities.
The Police Department, the Greens Homeowners Association, and the Eagleveiw Homeowners Association have teamed up to implement this program. The Police Department will put up Keep Kids Alive Drive 25® speed limit signs throughout the communities. They will also hand out flyers about the program to speeding violators. The Homeowner Associations will hand out bumper stickers in the neighborhoods to remind neighbors to slow down. Most drivers speeding on your street, live in your neighborhood.
Neighbors can make a difference by: Slowing Down. Making sure you observe the 25-MPH speed limit in residential neighborhoods. Talking with your neighbors about watching out for all the kids in the neighborhood. Setting ground rules with your children about safe places to play in your neighborhood. Not letting your children play in the street.
The first speed limit sign will be installed by the Westminster City Public Works in the area of Uniontown Rd on 3-27-01. PSAs will be aired on WTTR to reminded drivers to obey the speed limit.
